Prevocational Services

Prevocational Services

Our Prevocational Services Program provides daily paid work opportunities to 150 people. This service is primarily based at the Lawrence and Vivian Stockhausen (LVS) Center.  The focus of this service is to develop vocational skills in individuals while increasing independence and initiatives in a work setting.

The type of work consists of hand packaging, assembly, use of hand tools and small equipment. When not engaged in completing paid work, individuals attend small group sessions that focus on soft skills needed in a work environment. Some session topics include:

  • Communication
  • SafetyDSC02480 prevoc page
  • Customer Service
  • Working with Others
  • Quality Standards
  • Problem Solving

We invite other providers such as Independence First and University of Wisconsin Washington County to address additional workplace and independent life skill topics.

The MacIver Institute released their second video (click here) this morning on capturing the importance of protecting all employment options for people with disabilities!  This video is part of a series they are creating in response to their investigation on the federal rule that may impact facility-based training.

Please share these video’s with ALL of your friends and family members. It is vital that the message for CHOICE spreads throughout our community!

Thank you!
